Jim Young, General Manager

Jim YoungJim Young grew up in the restaurant business working from an early age at a family owned restaurant and catering business in Chicago, Illinois.  His twenty year career has involved key positions at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Elgin, Illinois, a Microbrewery in Boulder, Colorado,  Resort facilities in Yellowstone National Park, and most recently at Max’s Sports Restaurant in Glendale, Arizona where he won three “Best of Award” for that chain.  Jim, his wife, and two sons moved to Dickinson in June 2015 to assume the top job at Players Sports Bar and Grill.  You can reach Jim at

Courtney Newton, Assistant General Manager

courtDaughter of a local beekeeper, Courtney grew up understanding that hard work always produces something sweet. After graduating High School in Belfield, North Dakota, Courtney headed to Dickinson to pursue a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a minor in Entrepreneurship at Dickinson State University. She fell in love with the lively, dynamic atmosphere of the restaurant business at a young age and has gained 10 years of experience in the industry. Courtney has developed a true passion for Customer Service and the Food and Beverage Industry that will only continue to grow through new challenges and opportunities.   You can always reach Courtney at


Avery Benson, Head Chef

averyChef Avery got his start in the food service industry working at a small café and ice cream parlor when he was 15. It wasn’t until he worked at a Country Club in West Virginia at 17 that he fell in love with the Culinary Arts.  Chef Avery went from working at the country club to going to school at the Chef’s Academy in Indianapolis. There he worked his way through school working at restaurants in the Indianapolis region.  After school Chef Avery worked at Sinclair’s, a 5 star restaurant at the West Baden Hotel.  This opportunity allowed him  to hone his skills and talent and learn everything there was about being a chef. After looking at multiple job opportunities from Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, and even Spain, he saw a job opportunity in North Dakota at Players.  After being hired, he quickly moved up to become the head chef.  You can reach him at
